Current mood: pensive
Current music:Davud Bowie - John I'm Only Dancing

ART: "See No More" (Equus fanart)
So, you know I said "No, I'm not going to draw... it", right?

Well...

Title: See No More
Fandom: Equus (is it really a fandom?)
Character: Alan Strang
Rating: PG-13/R for non-sexual nudity and blood
Notes: *wails* I feel vaguely dirty. D: I just drew Dan's...! But it was a very powerful scene. I embelished with lots of blood spatters. :D

For [info]nqdonne, at her (repeated, capslocked) request.

Wow, I'm actually quite inspired to draw art of Alan. Not just because Dan Radcliffe played him, but he's just so screwed in the head! And he has lovely scenes while breathing in Nugget's breath... And then self-flagellating on a bed...

PS: For anyone who missed it, here is my review of Equus, which I saw yesterday with [info]shocolate. :D!

Oh, lizard, I love it!

Alan is perfect for art - with the horses or anything - he just suffers so much.

And it is definitely a fandom - even if it's only me meeping at you as you draw - and I own the first piece of work in teh fandom!!!

Just wait until you see him breaking down from stalls seats!

oh - the art you are going to do for me with him leaping and twisting and striking - with the horses' heads and the eyes glowing and the leaping and the twisting!

Oh poor, wee Alan.

I already said how much I love his facelessness - how this is really ALAN and not Dan. How he doesn't know who he is or what he's meant to think or do or ANYTHING and this has his lovely desperation in spades.

Oh wow, it looks like it's translating quite well through teh art!

Your rendering looks a but softer than usual here - did you try the watercolor tool?

As I said before I would love to see the play myself. I love the picture you drew. It was a bit too dark for me (I have a crappy old screen), so I had to open it with Photoshop and lighten it up a bit. It sure is not Daniel but Alan. I really love it!!!!!

Oops, sorry the picture was too dark! But the scene just called for very dark, depressing colours, haha. :D and I'm so glad that you could see it's Alan, not Dan! That was exactly my intention. Thank you!!!

Wauw .. I'm.. speachless!

Your picture is so powerful and beautiful that I can't seem to tear my eyes from it.
There just nothing in this world I would want more, except for July to come now!, than to see Equus! I read anthimaeria's review, and OMG, I want to see that play!! I'll just have to wait for that sweet day where the play opens in Denmark, I guess.

But until that I'll "just" have to admire your work, which I already have done for quite some time now. I really hope you'll do more Equus drawings! ^___^ Great work! :D

I'm sooooo envious -- we studied this play in HS, and I've always loved it. It's just so powerful and it's got those moments that just really make your breath catch. This is a lovely moment of Alan's!

I especially liked you describing the set and horse costumes in your review -- all that stuff is specified in the play itself, and it's wonderful to hear that the minimalist set pieces worked in real life.
